Portland and Seattle shows report

Sorry for the late report guys, I've been sick in bed since just after the shows. Anyway, Sloan was amaaaaaaaaazing as per usual in Portland and Seattle. The new stuff was rockin' and they pulled out some killer old stuff ("UNDERWHELMED"! "SNOWSUIT SOUND"! OMGOMGOMG.) Over the two shows, they played stuff from every album except Pretty Together, maybe they hate it as much as I do. They even mixed up the setlist some at the second show cos we told Chris we would be there again. Also, "Before I Do" rocks out a lot more live than I would have expected, and you know, I would think I would be sick of "Money City Maniacs" and "Penpals" by now cos they've played them at I think every show I've been to but they are so fucking awesome live that I just can't be. Oh also the opening band, The Golden Dogs, were very cool too, people should check them out.

We talked to Chris after both shows. *swoonswoonswoon* At the Seattle show I got him to sign the two most recent and he said they were both "very worthwhile albums" so I told him that Twice Removed used to be my favourite album but now it's Never Hear the End of It and he said something about how "as we get further away from Twice Removed we seem to be getting further away from what people love about it." Then he said he's really into The Kinks these days so we talked about The Kinks a bit and that was cool. He said their lyrics are a lot more interesting than The Beatles but The Beatles have better production. He was also all startled by my copy of Parallel Play because it's the American one, not the Canadian, and apparently the colours are a little different? But he said he liked it and it was "punchier."

We also got to talk to Andrew for a bit after the second show. He had been wearing these really interesting t-shirts with stuff drawn on them and he told me that he does them all himself. "I have a lot of free time and a lot of blank t-shirts." He was happy that I appreciated his Orwell reference in "The Dogs." He also said that Never Hear the End of It is his favourite album too. No Jay and Patrick either night sadly.

I took a bunch of pictures both nights--you can see all of them on my Flickr. My boyfriend also has a bunch on his site. He put a few videos on Youtube as well. I made a video of "Underwhelmed" but I was bouncing around so much I don't think it came out very well. Plus, half of it is sideways because Chris turned my camera around in the middle of it for some reason?
